Domestic Violence in Costa Rica

In Costa Rica is very comond, that the family suffers domestic violence. There are women and children that actually stay in this situation. That is a really complex problem and affect costarrican society. The problem of domestic violence affect physical and emotional to the families
There are many institutions in charge of prevent, detect and transform the socio-cultural patterns. Is important that refroze these areas to have better results because in most of cases the institutions do something when the problem was happened. The victims of domestic violence needs psychology help to affront the situation and legal help to be sure that they are going to stay protect
The law was signed in may 24, 2007, include punishment for abuse of women by their partners and toughens jail terms for rape, among other crimes. This law penalizes women violence. The law calls 20 -35 years in jail for any convicted man of murdering his partner, 12-18 years now applied to homicide convictions and 6 months to 2 years to man convicted of repeatedly in a public or private manner insulting, devaluing, ridiculing, shaming or terrorizing his partner
There are a lot of cases of women that died in hands of her partners, and they put the demands and authority didn’t do anything. Almost when the victim died all the authorities stay there investigate what happened. Is important that the victim has protection in all the way because sometimes doesn’t put the demand because they are afraid at what going to happening later

The violence, impact the quality of life and is a deep hold that need a lot of treatment for the persons involucreate.
